Fitness Tips: Training Hard, not getting results

Amanda would like to know:
Hi Amelia Well, I've successfully managed to complete a 20min jog without puffing like a maniac. I feel like doing more but as mentioned in my prior query, my work schedule prevents any more than a 25 min workout each day. I've thrown in 4kms on a Sunday though. Over the last few weeks, I've jogged at least 4 times each week but the scales have remained the same. I'm 65.2 kgs. I haven't lost anything and not too sure why. I've been sticking to a healthy food plan without slipping and drink heaps of water. I expected to have lost at least close to a kilo when I weighed up on Saturday but felt very disappointed at the outcome. Not to mention, very discouraged as I worked my butt off. Anyway, I'm not giving up because I've learned to really love a good jog but the fact that I've remained the same weight for 3 weeks is baffling. I was hoping you could shed some light perhaps..?? Thanks Amelia Amanda

Hi Amanda,
I completely understand how disheartening it can be to feel like you are trying so hard yet not getting the results you want. You running improvements will have definitely made a difference even if the scales don't show it yet. Sometimes you can gain a bit of muscle when you start running so the scales don't show any difference. Having said that I agree that there should have been better results. This leads me to one conclusion. You are eating too much. You may not think you are, but society's perception of portion sizes has been greatly skewed so we might need to teach you about portion sizes.

The easiest, no fuss way of doing this is to join Lite and easy. They deliver all your meals to the door, individually wrapped in their portion sizes. Even if you only do it for a month, it will show you exactly how much 1200-1500 cal per day is. It's a great lesson that I recommend to many of my clients initially.

Now I am a real foody. I love cooking, I love fresh produce so Lite and Easy doesn't appeal to me and you might feel the same. However I urge you to try it for a minimum of two weeks just to learn about the portion sizes. Here are their spring menus

Keep the running up. 25min x 4 per week. is great, now it's time to ramp up the speed and incline. I want you puffing please!!!

1200 cal per day, thats the magic number!
Keep going and keep me posted. It will work, I promise. I've seen it happen over and over again...xx
Amelia
