Fitness Tips: How many runs should I be doing per week?


Jordanna would like to know:
Hi Amelia, i have been doing your best ever treamill workout and I love it! My question is how many times a week should I be incorporating it into my workouts? I already to resistance training 2-3 times a week, 2 spin classes, 3 yoga sessions and now I've been doing the treadmill workout out twice a week instead of just running at a steady pace for 30 minutes. Should I be trying to fit another session in? I'm pretty knackered after I finish so I know I'm really pushing myself. I lokk forward to your reply.

Hi Jordanna,
I am not exactly sure of your goals but if fitness, weight loss and energy are among them then I would swap one yoga session for an outdoor run. I would also tack 10min of Xtrainer at the start and 10min of bike at the end of your treadmill workout to make it 40min.  With the outdoor run, do around 6-7km outdoors or 40min. Choose the same route and time yourself each week for a month trying to better that time. After a month add 2km or 15mins onto the run and continue for another month. Before you know it you'll be ready for a half marathon!!!
